The Necessity of Tenacity

Tenacity simply put, is the ability to keep on keeping on. This is a characteristic that every single successful person on earth possesses.

For those of you who have read my blogs in the past, you are well aware that it has been way too long since I last posted a blog. Instead of making excuses as to why I haven't done so, I will just be honest and say it has not been on the top of my to do list for some time. What has been keeping me occupied? You'll find out shortly.

The last few months have been a wild ride for me. I have gone through a massive learning curve and changed a lot of things in my life, this is one of the main reasons this blog has worked its way back to the top of my to do list. I feel that I have a lot more to offer with my previous life experiences that will help you in your own journey for greatness, contentment, success, freedom or all of the above :)

So let me get into it. Since my last blog I have moved house, started new companies, began a 72day personal development program (currently up to day 46), made new friends, missed some bills and paid some too. I have been through highs and lows, over come challenges, made some mistakes, learned some lessons, kicked some goals and set some new ones. That's what I love about life, it is an ever changing journey and I could not have guessed in a million years how different my life would be now to what it was the last time I wrote a blog (about 6 months ago).

What was I meant to be talking about again?... oh yeah, "Tenacity". Why is it so important? That's a great question, I'm glad you asked. Tenacity is the vital trait that keeps you focused and energized when things just don't seem to be going you way. Tenacity is what keeps a marathon runner going for that last kilometer when his body starts shutting down, every muscle is aching and their vision starts to blur. Tenacity is what made people like Issac Newton and Thomas Edison keep on going when 1000's of previous attempts had failed. Tenacity is what separates failure from success.

It has been written in many books and recorded on many CD's by some of the worlds leading teachers of personal development and achievement, that their greatest success came shortly after what they thought was their greatest failure. It was only because they had the courage to keep going that the experienced success beyond their wildest dreams.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Remember what I am about to tell you, even if it is all you get out of this blog. "There is no such thing as failure unless you CHOOSE to quit, there are only lesson learned and character built" Think about that for a minute.

I am not trying to say you should never deviate from what you're doing or set your life in concrete. There do come times when you realize something you are concentrating on is not leading you down the right path, in this case it is a good decision to re-evaluate and redirect your energy. What I am trying to say is that giving up on something you're passionate about because it becomes to hard is not what makes someone successful, and you will NOT be successful if you fall into this trap.

So don't mistake temporary defeat for failure. Keep on keeping on even if times get tough, be tenacious, learn lessons, develop your character and live life to the max! The journey is more important than the destination and the person that you become achieving your goals is much more important than the goals themselves.

See you at the top!
